Styling 101: Business Casual

With more and more companies adapting the "business casual" dress code, it's becoming difficult to determine what looks are considered workplace appropriate. Although a casual dress code has a plethora of perks, it can be hard to see the line between what is appropriate and what is too casual {flip flops are a no go!}. And for those experiencing this newfound dress code freedom for the first time, it can be even more difficult to step out of the formal 9-5 mindset and have fun with outfits. If you ask us, learning how to dress stylishly and professionally in a workplace is key to making a lasting impression. Here, we've pulled together some of our favorite chic-yet-appropriate outfits perfect for your days at the office! Look 1: You can't go wrong with a conservative shift dress. Throw it on, add a statement necklace and your favorite work bag and voila! Remember, you don't need to go out and buy new dresses each season. Pair one with tights and booties in the winter and when the temps warm up, try it out bare-legged with a wedge or pair of flats.

Look 2: Some denim IS appropriate in a business-casual environment; however, that does not include faded, tarnished or distressed jeans. Save those for the weekend! No client meetings or luncheons? Pair your favorite dark washed skinnies with a neutral collarless blazer and comfortable pair of flats. Can you say easy-peazy?

Look 3: Finding a pair or two of well-fitting dress pants is a must. A classic pair of black trousers looks great paired with blouses and blazers, dressed up with a pair of pumps, or kept more casual with your favorite flats.

Look 4: Remember, you can still play around with pattern and color {even in the office}! We suggest investing in a fun, floral pencil skirt perfect for Spring. Neutral blouses are perfect work staples as they are multi-seasonal and always appropriate!
